EMBER MONTH TRAGEDY!!: Nursing mother and her infant battle for their lives after fatal accident!
The ’ember’ months have been ever notorious for tragedies and people are often advised to be more careful when going about their businesses and other festive related activities during these period.
One of such tragedies struck around 9pm yesterday the 29th of December 2020 at Everbest bus stop, Meiran Lagos. The fatal accident which involved a Toyota Sienna and a Tricycle (keke napep) left 2 people dead and three others in critical condition, with the Tricycle driver and one other man being the fatalities recorded. The survivors include a nursing mother and her infant along with a Police officer of the Meiran police station who has been identified as Inspector Glory Adedeji.
The driver of the Toyota Sienna also survived with only a few bruises. Eyewitnesses say that the accident happened when the Toyota Sienna which was moving at breakneck speed ran into the slow moving tricycle and rammed it into the side walks, destroying three shops before been halted by an electric pole.
Our correspondent also gathered that the incident could have escalated as officers of the Meiran police station led by the DPO had to rescue the Driver of the Toyota Sienna from angry tricycle drivers who had arrived the scene to retaliate for the death of their colleague. The driver was subsequently taken to the Meiran police station for further investigation.
