Unknown Gunmen Behead Nigerian Army Couple In Imo Threaten To Kill Family Members Too

A couple who were personnel of the Nigerian Army have been murdered by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Imo State.

The couple was traveling to the state to formalize their traditional marriage rites when the event occurred, according to a military source, who added that the crooks recorded the encounter and shared it online.

“They were on their way to Imo State on Saturday when the event occurred,” the source claimed. The man, a Master Warrant Officer, and the lady, a Lance Corporal, were on their way to work when they were killed by criminals who recorded their deaths and shared them on the internet. They raped the woman before shooting them and chopping off their heads.

“The husband was in the 19 regular intakes, and the wife was in the 79RI. The man’s father is still alive, and his brother is a soldier serving in a regiment in Kaduna State.”

An audio recording of the militant calling family members of the victims was previously reported by Echonewsng.

The victims were killed, according to a male voice, as a result of attacks reportedly carried out by the Nigerian Army.

The caller was crying at one point, but the militant insulted her.

Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, acknowledged the occurrence and said the Army was looking into it.

The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have been implicated for the attack.
